In 2009, after a solid year of touring in support of Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King, DMB had no intention of slowing down. The band traversed both Europe and the US in 2010. This setlist from the bands eleventh visit to Blossom Music Center stands apart from all other 2010 releases with its segues, teases and reprises. It is anything but straightforward and definitely a fun listen from top to bottom.

Cornbread, shake me like a monkey, and Don't drink the water on the same vinyl? Greatest combination of live songs yet

I own and have heard many, many live performances by the DMB and upon hearing Live Trax 62, Blossom Music Center, it quickly became a favourite, a top 5 for sure. What sets it apart is its track selection, the quality mastering and above all, its lighthearted approach. The segues, lengthy jam sessions and teases make you feel like you’re at the show and out of all of the physical live copies I own on vinyl, this is my go-to. My other DMB fan friends agree and to be honest, I’m surprised that this isn’t sold out. Grab a copy before it is!

The sound quality is excellent. The overall material is great for the period up to 2009. Drums come through strong and tight. There isn't excessive talking like other live trax collections I own. If one plays through all the LPs its easy to imagine you are at the concert. Only four stars because two of the records have under-drilled hubs and must be reamed in order to not stick on my Linn Sondek LP12 at xle. This is unique because of 1000 other records in my collection, two of this set are exceptionally tight to the point of severe disc flex to get them off. One other technical problem is the runout on one side of one disc (C?) was not cut properly and the needle stays on the last sound/note instead of running out. Overall, sloppy execution on an otherwise excellent set of music by a magical band.

The CD (s) have been in the 5 disc changer since the day they arrived. One of the vinyls has been on the B&O turntable since they arrived. It is a great concert. Listened to 8 sides Christmas Eve just chilling with some wine and family. Can’t wait to see what’s next. It’s always hard to pick a favorite. I guess it depends what’s on the B&O. PS I love the version of “41” and the tempo of “Big Eyed Fish”.
